Songwriting Camp 2026

1. The Campaign

Pressure Cooker Studios (“PCS”), in partnership with FAME Week Africa 2026, operates the Call for Creative Briefs and Songwriters. Submitting a brief or applying as a songwriter constitutes full acceptance of these terms.

2. Eligibility

Participation is open to registered FAME Week Africa 2026 delegates aged 18+ or registered juristic entities. PCS will select and pair participating music creators directly with selected creative briefs. Selected music creators will receive access passes to FAME Week Africa 2026.

3. Submitting

Submission is free of charge. PCS reserves the right to extend or amend submission deadlines at its discretion.

4. Selection

PCS will evaluate and select briefs and songwriter participants at its sole creative discretion based on project feasibility, cultural relevance, quality, and commercial viability. PCS is under no obligation to justify selection decisions. Selected participants may be featured across official FAME Week and PCS marketing, PR channels, and event panels.

5. Project Materials

Brief applicants retain full ownership of their underlying projects, concepts, and submitted materials. Submitters permit PCS to use submitted materials internally to brief and guide camp creative teams.

6. Publishing & Royalties

PCS holds exclusive worldwide sync administration rights over all camp tracks. The 100% Writer Share will be split fairly and equally among all contributing co-writers on each track. PCS manages the Publisher Share, and co-administers splits with existing publisher partners where applicable. Songwriters collect their Writer Share directly from their respective CMO/PRO and must maintain active membership with a valid CAE/IPI number.

7. Master Rights

100% of the master copyright in all camp recordings, demos, and stems created during the camp vests exclusively with PCS in perpetuity. Creators retain underlying master copyright ownership where applicable (such as under existing third-party master agreements), subject in all cases to PCS’s worldwide exclusive sync licensing rights to pitch and clear all camp assets.

8. Catalogue & Sync Licensing

Selected brief submitters receive evaluation demos at no cost, with a right of first refusal to license them at production music rates with optional exclusivity negotiated for specific project requirements. Unlicensed tracks that meet production standards will be included in the Pressure Music Catalogue. PCS holds sole administrative authority for sync to grant mechanical, sync, and commercial licenses globally. Where a track is placed in a direct sync deal, contributing songwriters will receive their Writer Share portion of direct sync licensing fees collected by PCS within 30 days of final client settlement.

9. Non-Commissioned Work

The camp is a collaborative creative incubator and does not constitute a commissioned service. Receiving evaluation demos creates no legal obligation to license tracks or guarantee project fit.

10. Content & Promotion

PCS and FAME Week Africa reserve the right to capture behind-the-scenes photo, video, and audio footage during the camp. PCS may use media assets for marketing and PR, provided confidential project details flagged by submitters are omitted.

11. Confidentiality

Briefs are shared strictly with the curating panel and assigned camp teams. All camp participants, writers, and staff must execute formal Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) prior to accessing briefs or commencing creative work.

12. Personal Information

Personal data collected will be processed and managed in compliance with POPIA (Act 4 of 2013) and the PCS Privacy Policy.

13. Governing Law & Amendments

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. PCS reserves the right to modify camp formats, schedules, or terms without incurring liability.

14. Delivery Timelines

Evaluation demos will be made available to brief submitters on or before 1 November 2026. Final mastered audio assets for licensed tracks will be delivered from 1 December 2026, subject to an executed licensing agreement.
