To create a driving and energetic action-thriller score that had a uniquely South African flavour, while still remaining accessible to an international audience.
Director Mukunda Michael Dewil wanted an electronic driving feel to the music to support the suspense and tension of the story. We created a modern electronic bed of music and elevated this with uniquely tuned percussion instruments and other African drums, which we processed in a very contemporary style. We also worked with a vocalist Mapumba Colombo to add an African flair through vocals, and then designed his voice into African vocal drones and pads to give the film a distinctive sonic palette.
