At Pressure Cooker Studios, we’re all about nurturing talent and creating spaces for growth, learning, and collaboration. That’s why we were so excited to have Gareth Cartier join us remotely as a marketing intern during his summer vacation. Gareth is currently a first-year student at UC Berkeley, studying Film and Media, and he spent eight weeks working with us. Even with the distance, we made sure to keep our supportive and dynamic environment front and center. In this blog, Gareth shares his take on the internship, the skills he picked up, and the standout moments from his time collaborating with our team.
How would you describe your experience working remotely with Pressure Cooker Studios during your 8-week internship?
My experience working remotely with Pressure Cooker Studios during my 8-week the internship has been enjoyable and educational. Through this experience I honed my skills of research and organization while learning marketing techniques such as the utilization of SEO keywords. Despite the remote style of the internship, the communication between myself and my supervisors was smooth and clear.
Weekly meetings were held to review updates on my progress and answer burning questions. Overall, the experience was rewarding and will be extremely beneficial for my future.
What aspects of Pressure Cooker Studios stood out to you the most during your time with us?
What stood out to me the most during my internship was the incredibly collaborative and close-knit culture. It was clear that everyone knew each other well and worked together seamlessly, like a cohesive family rather than just colleagues. Despite me working remotely, I felt very welcomed, and I was truly honored to be part of such a knowledgeable and collaborative group. I’m glad to have gotten the opportunity to contribute and learn in such a productive environment.
What was the most valuable insight or lesson you gained from formulating your own marketing strategy and collaborating with our marketing team?
At first, when I was working on my marketing strategy presentation, I found it challenging to come up with unique initiatives that would really stand out.
I realized that traditional ideas weren’t enough, and therefore had to push myself to think outside the box and consider more unconventional approaches. With the team’s support and feedback, I learned how to build on those initial struggles to develop a strategy that was very innovative and unique.
In your view, what unique value does Pressure Cooker Studios bring to the US market, especially considering its focus on African sound?
Pressure Cooker Studios takes great pride in delivering an exceptional “customer experience,” and based on what I observed during my internship, their commitment is genuine. With as collaborative and talented a team as they have, there is no doubt in my mind that they will deliver their service with the highest possible quality. Not only that, but clients in the United States may not be as exposed to an audio production company with a focus on African sound. This unique specialization not only sets them apart but also offers an innovative edge in the audio production landscape.
Gareth’s journey with us highlights what we value most at Pressure Cooker Studios: nurturing talent and creating meaningful learning experiences. It’s been fantastic to see his growth, creativity, and the fresh perspective he brought to the team. We’re proud to have been a part of his journey and can’t wait to see where his passion takes him next. For us, it’s all about supporting young talent and watching them thrive, no matter where they are in the world. Thanks for sharing your experience, Gareth – we’re excited to see what’s next for you!
