To create an appropriately cinematic score for this animation feature film, based on a fresh new take of the audio landscape from the series of the same name.
The score started out with the exact Munki and Trunk palette and we expanded from there, mainly on the synthesizer front for Fneep and the Scaldronians. We approached it cinematically at first, in a typical animation genre-specific style, but we combined this with very strong African elements to really establish the world the film is set in. We incorporated the song ‘Special Star’ by Mango Groove as a key feature, giving a nostalgic feeling and adding to the familiarity and authentic South African tone of the overall soundtrack.
