To create a gritty action score, combining elements of local instrumentation to highlight the authentic South African setting of the film.
We spent time writing creepy serial killer music with kickass action sequences, while carefully weaving local instruments and acoustic instrumentation into the score. This resulted in creating more of a local edge to a somewhat cinematic and genre-relevant approach.
We tried to create a starkness in the score in order to reflect the location of the story.
The audio’s role was to immerse the audience in this specific South African small-town environment and highlight the emptiness of the world that the characters occupy. We mixed the film in a way that heightened the tension and drama of the story as it unfolds.
